- שָׁאַףII (b. h.) = שוּף I, to blow, pant, long for. Midr. Till. to Ps. 119:131 כמו (ש)התנינים שוֹאֲפִים לרוח כן הייתי שוֹאֵף לתורתך (not רוהך) as the monsters pant for wind, so do I pant (longing) for thy Law.
